YouTube wanted us to bring the best of these stories to life – people who learnt their skills directly from YouTube, and then used them to give back to their community.
The first step was finding the stories, which is a daunting task when you’re working for Google! We created the Story Engine, an in-house system that scrapes trillions of touch points to find those special few people.
Then we brought these stories to life with a fresh approach to doco films, combining heartfelt interviews with mixed-media and a digital-first approach to storytelling.
The films launched YouTube Stories across Australia and New Zealand, were picked up extensively in the media, and created a great foundation for more to come.
