He is Creative Director at VMLY&R Branding since April 2013. He was previously the Brand Design team’s leader at Brandia Central from November 2006 to May 2013. He graduated in Communication Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon in 1996.
He was hired in 1997 by EURO RSCG Design (HAVAS group) as a designer and became creative director in 2001. It was during this period that he found his calling as a Brand creator. Throughout his career we can find countless examples of his experience in the creation and management of Brands: UEFA EURO 2004™, TMN, CONTINENTE, MONTEPIO, RTP2, BANIF.
He was responsible for multidisciplinary teams and projects involving different skills such as Brand Strategy, Brand Design, Architecture, Industrial and Digital Design, for global Brands, such as: TEFAF Maastricht (The European Fine Arts Fair), UEFA EURO 2012™, UEFA EURO 2016™, FIFA World Cup 2018™ Russia and, more recently, UEFA Nations League and UEFA EURO 2020.
Regarding territorial branding, as designer and creative director, he developed multiple identity projects for tourism destinations and leisure areas, among which stand out the brands for the City of Lisbon, for Parque das Nações and also for the Madeira Archipelago.
He was honouredwith countless awards as a designer and creative director. Throughout his career, creative teams led by Hélder have been nominated as the Design agency of the year by different festivals.
Hélder has been a Judge at different creative festivals in Portugal. In 2008, he was a Judge at Eurobest, carried out in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2010 and 2014, he presided over the Design Panel at the Portuguese Creative Club festival. And in 2018 and 2019 he’ll be evaluating creative worg for the Meios & Publicidade Awards.
He lives with his wife and three children in Palmela and, in addition to his family, he loves to create Brands, to travel, to draw, and to watch and play football.
