On Thursday, June 17, Transformation and Fluorescent Powered by DEI staged VMLY&R Juneteenth Juke Jam, a companywide celebration of Juneteenth. The program began with Reconstruction 2.0, a live panel of Black WPP executives exploring what modern-day reconstruction for the Black community looks like.
Immediately following the panel was the official Juneteenth Juke Jam. A partnership with BMG, this hour-long entertainment series featured Valerie June, Joshua Henry, KAMAUU and a variety of talented VMLY&R musicians. The festivities culminated with a showdown between our Atlanta office’s very own Shaun Campbell and Sherman Winfield, the “Tale of Two Cities DJ Battle.”
This celebration led the agency into VMLY&R Blackout — A Day of Celebration With a Purpose, on Friday, June 18. We spent the day supporting local Black-owned businesses, visiting African American historical sites, supporting Black-led charities and/or supporting local Black culture.
