As healthcare workers around the world struggle to find the personal protective equipment (PPE) they need, a small group of employees from VMLY&R New York and BAV Group saw an opportunity to help. BAV Group's Kyle Boots and VMLY&R's Hunter Eshelman, Karl Kedrovsky and Andy McIeod teamed with a group of frontline healthcare workers at New York's NYU Langone hospital who were organizing PPE donations through Facebook and Instagram to create an online platform called Masks4Medicine.org that provides tutorials on how to make surgical masks at home, collects monetary and PPE donations and helps NYU doctors distribute these resources across New York hospitals that need it most. Since VMLY&R partnered with Masks4Medicine, the organization has achieved 501c3 status and has donated 100,000 masks, 5,000 gloves, and 300 coveralls to hospitals throughout New York City.
