VMLY&R announces today the appointment of Abbie Baehr as chief strategy officer of the New York office, further expanding the agency’s executive strategic leadership. The role adds strategic firepower across the agency’s New York office and key client accounts including Dell Technologies, New Balance, Coca-Cola, Colgate, Advil and Ford. Baehr will report to Ian Davidson, chief strategy officer, North America.
“The VMLY&R strategic C-suite has never been stronger with the addition of Abbie Baehr,” says Ian Davidson, chief strategy officer, North America VMLY&R. “Abbie’s addition will be a valuable asset to our strategic leadership; I can’t wait to see the groundbreaking work she will deliver alongside our outstanding clients and agency teams.”
Over the course of her career, Baehr has worked across iconic brands such as The Coca-Cola Company, American Express, Verizon, Walmart, Microsoft, and Diageo. Her work has been celebrated by top industry shows including the Effies and Cannes Lions. She joins the agency from Crispin Porter + Bogusky New York where she served as chief strategy officer of North America.
Prior to that, she served in a number of strategy roles at McCann Worldgroup. Baehr’s vast experience in brand strategy will be invaluable in expanding the strategic leadership of VMLY&R, following the hire of Andrea Ring, who was named global chief strategy officer earlier this year, as well as the ongoing leadership of Ian Davidson, chief strategy officer, North America, VMLY&R.
Commenting on the role, Baehr said: “VMLY&R is one of the only agencies that truly has all the skill sets to provide a full offering of what clients need today. I feel like I’ve been given a treasure trove of talent and I am excited to apply that to truly transformative work. Under the phenomenal leadership of Ian Davidson and Andrea Ring, the suite of senior strategic leadership at VMLY&R will be hard to beat.”
Outside of work, Baehr is an animal lover and spends her time volunteering with the furry friends of Badass Animal Rescue in Brooklyn.
