Howard leads the Global Healthcare Practice for VMLY&R. Current pharmaceutical clients include Genentech Pfizer, Merck, BMS, Janssen, J&J, Bayer, Orexigen, PhRMA and Sanofi. Major brands include Ocrevus, Xeljanz, Prevnar 13, Chantix, Viagra, Ibrance, and Bayer Animal Health.
Howard has worked in the pharmaceutical communications business for almost two decades. He was instrumental in working with the PhRMA team to build brand positioning and awareness in a complex and ever changing political climate. He has helped drive billion-dollar-plus blockbuster brands such as Lipitor, Abilify, Xarelto, Symbicort, Lyrica, Latuda and Opdivo to name a few. A pioneer in direct to consumer (DTC) pharmaceutical communications, Howard was elected to the DTC Hall of Fame in 2014 for his many successes.
Howard has also run large OTC global businesses like Listerine, Tylenol and Zyrtec for J&J, having overseen the J&J consumer healthcare business for nine years.
Earlier in his career, Howard worked for CPG leaders P&G and General Mills on iconic brands like Total, Crest and Pampers. A Bowdoin College graduate, Howard loves baseball, Bruce Springsteen and most of all his wife and three teenage children with whom he lives in Rowayton, Connecticut.
