Junior Art Director - JHB

Job Description:

We are looking for a talented visual content creator, who can create compelling stories that you can’t scroll past. The area of focus is digital conceptualization and fresh visual crafting. Ultimately, you will ideate and design innovative and engaging content/drive mostly digitally led concepts about our products and services for our audiences. It’s about the latest trends, the most up-to-date platform info and expressing this with impactful visual content. Show up every day with an attitude of curiosity and courageousness.

You will work with a copywriter to develop ideas and concepts, the job demands the confidence to creatively run with ideas and the passion to sell ideas to peers and clients. Pro-active in approach, and with a genuine understanding of the visual medium, the role is very ‘hands-on’ and often busy.

You need to:

  • Have work that shows your strong conceptual approach to digital and social.
  • Work with your team to manage timelines, budgets, and strategic planning, as well as the day-to-day requirements in the creative department.
  • Work in a close-knit creative partnership with the Creative Director, Copy Writer to generate standout concepts and ideas.
  • Have strong visual thinking with top skills in design software such as InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, Figma
  • Have animation and content creation skills - a big plus.
  • Know and understand the various platforms and evolving digital media.
  • Present work internally and externally in a clear and professional manner
  • Amending, revising or redeveloping campaigns in response to feedback from the CD or clients.
  • Staying on top of consumer conversations that are trending & keep up to date with consumer engagement technologies.
  • Have the ability to keep up to date with industry trends and standards in order to ensure that work is always fresh, world-class and original

Required Experience:

  • 2-3+ years’ experience with an advertising organisation, with at least 2-3 years’ previous experience in an agency environment
  • Digital advertising experience preferential.
  • A solid creative portfolio that demonstrates originality, innovation and problem-solving
  • Finely honed copywriting skills and latest techniques
  • Good knowledge of required ecommerce best practices & enormous capabilities of the world of digital
