The second annual Effie Awards South Africa took place on Thursday 27 October and VMLY&R South Africa was thrilled to bring home one Gold (in the Insurance category) and two Bronze Awards (in the Social Good – Brands / Positive Change and Marketing Disruptors categories) for Hollard Big Ads for Small Business.
Unlike most other advertising award shows, which focus predominantly on creativity and innovation, the Effie Awards reward effectiveness, measuring marketing and communications campaigns against their own objectives. Effie has no overarching definition of what “effective” means – in order to be considered, marketers need to demonstrate that the campaign achieved what it set out to achieve, be that sales, awareness, sign-ups, market share, etc.
